Azatutyun — The Civil Contract party, as the political force holding a majority in the National Assembly, has officially nominated its leader, Nikol Pashinyan, for the position of Prime Minister. The party has submitted all necessary documents to the President's office as required by the Constitution for the appointment of a Prime Minister.
President Vahagn Khachaturyan has already accepted the resignation of the outgoing government, which was submitted at the start of the newly elected parliament's first session in accordance with constitutional requirements. Now that the parliament's mandate has commenced, the President is expected to appoint the candidate nominated by the majority without delay.
Earlier, Nikol Pashinyan stated that the process would proceed according to legal procedures, with the candidate for Prime Minister being presented to the President, followed by the appointment. With this move, the ruling power is initiating the process of forming a new government.
