Armenia is interested in further developing relations with Russia. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said this during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Bishkek.
According to Pashinyan, Armenian-Russian relations have a rich history, and Armenia values the continued development of bilateral cooperation.
The prime minister also noted that there are issues in the relations between the two countries that need to be discussed, and that an open and constructive dialogue is necessary on these matters.
The Pashinyan-Putin meeting took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit. The sides discussed the current state of bilateral relations, economic cooperation and prospects for further interaction.
The statements made during the meeting show that Yerevan continues to attach importance to developing bilateral ties with Moscow, while also emphasizing the need to discuss the issues existing in the relationship. The emphasis on dialogue is key here.
The format of the meeting shows that both the development of cooperation and issues requiring discussion remain on the agenda of Armenian-Russian relations. Pashinyan's emphasis is particularly significant because the need for dialogue was presented as a condition for the further development of relations.
Economic cooperation and prospects for further interaction were also included in the discussions, meaning that the meeting was not limited to general political statements alone. At the same time, this material does not provide details on the specific results of the issues discussed by the sides.
