Ani Avetisyan, who was injured by Azerbaijani gunfire, has been transferred from the intensive care unit to a hospital ward, but she continues to experience pain and regularly takes painkillers. According to her husband, Ani’s condition still requires medical supervision because she has injuries to both her leg and arm.
Ani underwent surgery in recent days. During the operation, one of her fingers was amputated and her leg was shortened. The family does not yet want to discuss possible further surgeries because there is no certainty about them at this stage.
Ani’s husband also said that the family does not want to recall the details of the incident again at this time.
The incident took place on October 1 in Shaki, a settlement in Sisian Municipality, Syunik Province. Azerbaijani serviceman Nasim Musayev entered the settlement, spent the night in one of the houses, and then opened fire at 39-year-old Ani Avetisyan, injuring her in the leg. Ani Avetisyan was able to strike Musayev with a knife.
Ani’s 15-year-old son was also injured in the incident and was taken to Sisian Medical Center. Ani Avetisyan is currently receiving treatment at St. Gregory the Illuminator Medical Center in Yerevan.
The consequences of the incident have not been limited to the moment of the attack itself. Ani Avetisyan’s treatment is continuing, while her latest surgery shows that her injuries were severe and required significant medical intervention. At the same time, it is still unclear what procedures may be necessary during the next stages of her treatment.
The fact that Ani’s 15-year-old son was also injured in the incident also deserves attention. This means that the medical consequences of the incident affected not only the woman who was directly injured by the gunfire. The family currently does not want to return to the details of the incident, while Ani’s condition continues to require medical supervision.
