A significant increase in cases of children being poisoned by medications and household chemicals has been recorded in Armenia, as announced to the public by Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan. According to official data, while 256 cases of poisoning were registered in the first half of 2025, that figure reached 464 during the same period in 2026.
The minister emphasized that such concerning statistics compel everyone to remain extra vigilant at all times and everywhere, especially when it comes to dangerous substances kept at home. This issue requires parents to double their attention, as the safety of young children directly depends on their daily supervision.
The sharp rise in poisoning cases is a serious signal that demands immediate attention to defining the rules for storing hazardous materials at home. This statistics shows that ordinary everyday items can become a major threat to children if they are left in accessible places.
