During an emergency in central Yerevan on August 14, a strong wind uprooted a thick tree, which completely blocked the traffic lanes of Surb Grigor Lusavorich Street. The fall of the tree also damaged nearby power lines, creating an additional hazard for pedestrians and drivers.
Following the alert, rescuers and patrol officers arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and began eliminating the consequences. Employees of the Electric Networks of Armenia company de-energized the damaged wires, while rescuers, with the assistance of patrol officers and citizens, cut up and removed the tree from the road. According to preliminary data, fortunately, there are no casualties.
This incident once again serves as a reminder that strong winds can create serious problems for urban infrastructure. Although there were no casualties this time, such situations require an immediate and coordinated response from various services.
