In New York, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The interlocutors discussed issues related to the Armenia-EU cooperation agenda.
Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the EU’s support for Armenia’s economic diversification process, as well as assistance for decisions being made in that direction. The Prime Minister also highlighted the EU’s support for the effective implementation of democratic reforms in Armenia.
Ursula von der Leyen said that the EU would continue supporting the advancement of the Armenian government’s programs and the development of cooperation in various fields.
During the meeting, the sides also addressed issues of regional significance.
The meeting agenda shows that the issues discussed in Armenia-EU relations include not only individual programs but also areas related to the country’s economic and governance processes. The issue of economic diversification is particularly linked to expanding cooperation in various fields, while the discussion of democratic reforms concerns domestic governance processes.
The EU’s statement on continuing its support indicates that cooperation in these areas was viewed during the meeting as an ongoing process. At the same time, the sides also discussed issues of regional significance, broadening the Armenia-EU agenda beyond bilateral programs alone.
