Yerevan hosted the TrustConf2026 by imID annual conference dedicated to digital trust for the first time. It brought together representatives of the public and private sectors, the financial and telecommunications industries, the tech community, business, and international expert circles on one platform.
TrustConf was created as an annual platform for Armenia's digital trust ecosystem, aimed at uniting key players in the field and discussing the progress, practical application, and international experience of digital trust development. The launch of the conference also marked a new stage in the field's development: the experience already gained was elevated to a broader, industry-wide level.
"Trust began with infrastructure. Over these years, we built the technological foundation on which imID's products and services are now developing. We are now moving to the next stage — with the new-generation imID app, where the infrastructure and trust services we created are transformed into a simple and accessible experience for the user. A new solution, a new experience, but the same trust on which imID was built," said imID CEO Karen Mkoyan.
The new-generation imID app stands out for six key advantages: exceptional security, anti-phishing solutions, EU eIDAS 2.0 compliance, a human-centered interface, strictly verified identity, and broad accessibility. The development of digital trust, however, is not limited to technological solutions. Public–private cooperation is key to its widespread adoption, enabling technological solutions to be combined with state digital infrastructure and the regulatory environment.
For Yerevan, TrustConf2026 was not only the first such conference but also a clear signal that the topic of digital trust in Armenia has moved beyond purely technological discussions and become a platform for industry dialogue involving the state, business, and international experts.
Particularly noteworthy is the announcement for 2027: Yerevan will host part of the Trusted Economy Forum program within the framework of TrustConf2027. This means Armenia is seeking not only to apply European standards but also to become a venue for discussions around those standards.
One question still remains open: exactly how the "YesEm" national identification platform will be applied in everyday services and how quickly the average user will feel those changes. The conference answered the "what," but the "when" remains open for now.
