The Spanish national team has become world champion for the second time in history.

In the final of the tournament held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, the Spanish side defeated Argentina 1-0 in extra time. Consequently, Argentina failed to defend the title they won four years ago.

The match took place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The winning goal was scored in the 106th minute by Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, following an assist from substitute Nico Williams.

As a reminder, Spain previously became world champion in 2010.

Earlier, the England national team secured the bronze medal, defeating France 6-4 in the third-place play-off.

Kylian Mbappé was named the top scorer of the World Cup. The France national team and Real Madrid forward scored 10 goals, finishing two goals ahead of Lionel Messi.
