On August 14, at 8:46 PM, the Ministry of Internal Affairs' 112 operational management center received a report regarding an emergency incident on Tigran Mets Avenue in Yerevan. It was discovered that construction materials had collapsed, falling directly onto the roadway and the sidewalk.
Specialists from the Yerevan Fire and Rescue detachment of the Ministry's Rescue Service rushed to the scene to assess the situation and ensure public safety.
According to preliminary data, there were no human casualties as a result of the collapse, though four vehicles parked in the area sustained damage.
Collapses occurring outside of construction sites frequently raise concerns regarding safety and maintenance standards at such facilities. This urban development incident, which fortunately resulted in no casualties, serves as a reminder of the necessity for stricter oversight of construction work being carried out in the central parts of the capital.
Further developments will depend on investigations to be conducted by the relevant authorities, which must determine whether there were violations of technical safety regulations or if the collapse was caused by other external factors.
