Florian Escudier Officially Takes Over as France’s Ambassador to Armenia

Florian Escudier, the newly appointed French ambassador to Armenia, officially assumes his diplomatic mission today, September 5, the French Embassy announced in a post on its Facebook page.

The embassy's message noted that they welcome the new diplomat and that he has already begun his work in Yerevan.

Escudier himself wrote in his first message that he has received a warm welcome in Armenia and looks forward to meeting local Armenians and getting to know them better. "I am proud that I will soon be contributing to the story of love between France and Armenia," his post read, in which he also expressed his delight at receiving a warm welcome under the September sun.

This appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Armenian-French relations, as the two countries seek to deepen military-technical and cultural ties. Escudier, who previously worked in the Middle East, arrives in Armenia with no prior experience in the country, making his mission all the more intriguing. It remains unclear whether he will continue his predecessor's line of clearly articulating France's position amid tensions with Azerbaijan. His upcoming meetings with Armenian political and public figures in the coming months will reveal what emphasis Paris will place in this new phase.
