Pete Hegseth Threatens to Destroy Iranian Oil Tankers

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has issued a blunt threat to Iran, vowing to destroy the country’s oil tankers if Tehran continues to target American naval vessels.

Hegseth wrote on his social media page that the situation is very simple: if Iran does not stop firing at American ships, the U.S. will destroy their oil tankers, noting that all they need to do is refrain from attacking U.S. naval forces.

The Pentagon chief believes Iran’s tanker fleet is virtually defenseless, as the country lacks the naval and air power required to protect those vessels.

Immediately following Hegseth’s statement, a spokesperson for the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces warned the U.S., emphasizing that their future strikes would be more severe than previous ones.

It should be recalled that the U.S. Central Command previously reported striking three Iranian oil tankers, which was a response to Iran hitting six ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

This exchange of mutual threats follows a recent sharp rise in tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, and it is important to note that neither side appears ready to back down.

Hegseth’s assertion that the Iranian fleet is defenseless could be a precursor to military action, but Iran’s swift and harsh response suggests they are not taking the threats lightly. In fact, we are witnessing a situation where every new strike or statement could finally cross the red line, raising the question of who will blink first, or whether this escalation will inevitably lead to a direct military confrontation.
