A 19-year-old man attacked students and lecturers with a sharp object at a vocational school in the Polish city of Ostrołęka. Eight people were injured in the attack, two of them seriously.
The injured include four students and two lecturers, as well as two bystanders—a father and his son. All the victims were taken to hospital.
The attacker is a student at the same vocational school. He was also injured, and it is possible that he injured himself.
After the incident, the 19-year-old attempted to leave the scene, but police found and arrested him in the city. He is now in hospital under police guard.
The description of the incident shows that the attack took place at an educational institution, while the victims included not only students and staff but also people who happened to be in the area at the time. This particularly highlights the unpredictable nature of the incident, as the bystanders—a father and his son—were also injured.
Two circumstances are now in focus. First, the attacker is a student at the same vocational school, linking the incident directly to that educational environment. Second, he remains in hospital after his arrest because he was also injured. As a result, the full course of events has not yet been completely established.
