A serious incident occurred in Yerevan on a bus operating route number 33, leaving a passenger with a severe injury after his finger got caught in the closing doors. The 41-year-old man was forced to exit the vehicle with a bleeding hand, but the driver failed to provide first aid and simply left the scene. The alarming alert was shared by Anush Torosyan, president of the "Dzerqd Tur" (Give Your Hand) Community Development NGO.

The injured man was taken to the hospital, where he underwent complex surgery. Doctors managed to save and fully restore the damaged finger, with total medical expenses amounting to approximately 350,000 drams.

The "Yerevan Bus" company clarified that the incident took place on September 24 during peak transit hours. According to the official version, the driver simply did not notice what had happened at that moment, as the injured citizen exited alongside another passenger and did not report the incident immediately. The transport company learned of the occurrence later following a complaint filed by the citizen, after which an official written explanation was taken from the driver.

Adherence to safety rules and driver attentiveness in public transport are of vital importance, especially during peak hours. Such incidents highlight that serious risks associated with both technical and human factors still persist in the public transit system.

The issue of accountability and compensation is also crucial in this situation, as the citizen was forced to spend a significant sum of money on treatment. To prevent future unwanted accidents, it is necessary to review bus door safety systems and driver training procedures.
