Yerevan Zoo has sorrowfully confirmed that a lioness transferred to the zoo the previous day unfortunately did not awaken from sedation. Representatives of the zoo stated that the cause of death was the animal's advanced age and accompanying diseases. This fact has already been documented by an autopsy report.
The autopsy revealed that the animal's organ systems were severely affected. Specifically, the spleen, liver, lungs, and heart were damaged. Cholecystitic changes were found in the gallbladder, and obesity was also present. Additionally, free fluid was found in the abdominal cavity, which is also a consequence of age-related changes.
