Due to Russian strikes, virtually no intact thermal power plants remain in Ukraine. The current situation poses extremely serious challenges ahead of winter, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced.

The head of state emphasized that Russian missiles are deliberately targeting infrastructure to make life simply unbearable for Ukrainians. At the same time, he stressed that Ukraine seeks an end to the war, a dignified peace, and guaranteed security.

Zelensky also added that all cooperation projects with partners in the energy sector are of great importance. According to him, there are realistic pathways that allow for strengthening energy ties with various countries.

The massive destruction of energy infrastructure leaves Ukraine facing a systemic crisis ahead of the upcoming cold weather. The loss of thermal power plants means that electricity and heating supplies become extremely vulnerable.

In this situation, external support and the restoration of energy grids become top priority items on the agenda. Large-scale international solutions and new resources will be required to make up for the domestic energy deficit.
