An emergency occurred in Yerevan today when an alert was received around 18:50 regarding a fire that broke out in one of the buildings on Buzand Street. It was established on the spot that the fire started in the basement of the second building of the Yerevan Municipality, located at 1/3 Buzand Street, as a result of which the heavy smoke generated was visible from a distance of several hundred meters.
According to preliminary data, fortunately there are no casualties, but for safety reasons a large number of employees were urgently evacuated.
This incident once again reminds us of the importance of fire safety standards and rapid response in public institutions, especially when the health of a large number of employees is at risk. Although preliminary data indicates no casualties, the dense smoke and mass evacuation caused serious concern in the city.
In the near future, the official conclusion of the fire and rescue service must finally determine the exact causes of the fire outbreak and the extent of possible material damage.
