Flyone Armenia Buys Aircraft Directly from Airbus for the First Time

Flyone Armenia has finalized an order for two Airbus A321neo aircraft, as announced by European planemaker Airbus on September 30. A memorandum regarding the deal was signed earlier on May 5 during French President Emmanuel Macron's state visit to Armenia, when Aram Khachatryan, CEO of the Armenian carrier, and Charbel Youzkatli, Airbus's Head of Commercial Services for Europe, confirmed the partnership.

This marks the first direct order to Airbus in the history of both Armenian aviation and the airline, with Airbus set to produce the new jets specifically for Flyone Armenia. The acquired A321neo models will feature a single-class economy layout seating 239 passengers, enabling the airline to modernize its fleet and expand its route network.

Airbus representatives commended the Armenian carrier for its confidence in their product. According to the manufacturer, the A320neo family delivers at least 20% fuel savings and an equivalent reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to the previous-generation A320ceo models.

Flyone Armenia currently operates five aircraft registered in Armenia—four Airbus A320s and one Airbus A321—and leases additional A320 and A321 aircraft from Moldova's Fly One, all of which belong to the older A320ceo generation. Notably, a 50% stake in Flyone Armenia LLC is owned by Eduard Sukiasyan, 4% by CEO Aram Khachatryan, and 46% by Moldovan airline Fly One.

Ordering directly from Airbus represents a major step forward for Armenian aviation, as the new A321neo aircraft will significantly cut fuel and operating costs while allowing the airline to gradually phase out its older leased A320ceo fleet.

Above all, this investment signals the company's long-term strategy in a increasingly competitive regional market, where growing passenger traffic demands more efficient, higher-capacity aircraft.
