The preliminary investigation into the high-profile murder that took place in April in the village of Mrgashen, Kotayk Province, has been completed, and the prosecutor's office has sent the case to court. Two brothers, Janshin Sirekanyan and Sirekan Sirekanyan, are accused of brutally beating and killing dentist Artur Avagyan in front of their home. The victim was a father of three minor children.

The tragic incident occurred over the dentist's young daughter, when the young men attempted to seek clarification from the girl's father. However, an ordinary conversation quickly escalated and turned violent. During the preliminary investigation, both defendants refused to testify.

The brothers are currently in custody, while Sirekan, who reached adulthood just days ago, is being held in the juvenile unit of the Abovyan Penitentiary Institution. Although one of the brothers has psychological issues, expert examination found both of them sane.

The completion of this case and the results of the preliminary investigation indicate that the law enforcement system is preparing for a rather heavy judicial trial. It is important to note that declaring the defendants sane is of key importance for the subsequent verdict and sentencing.

The trial in court must clarify all the circumstances of the tragedy that started from a domestic dispute. Worthy of particular attention is how the defendants' refusal to testify will impact the evaluation of the evidence.
