The death toll from the November 2 Russian strike on the Ukrainian settlement of Kamyshevakha has reached 53.

Search and rescue operations at the site of the tragedy have been ongoing for the fifth consecutive day, as people may still be trapped beneath the rubble.

Russia struck Kamyshevakha on the evening of November 2, when, according to the country's president, the initial airstrike was followed by nine additional bombs. According to the acting head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, the strike hit a school and a shelter right at the moment when people were receiving humanitarian aid.

Heavy bombs are used to destroy concrete fortifications, whereas at the time of the strike, ordinary people had gathered in the underground center to receive aid.

This tragedy highlights the most devastating consequences of the conflict, directly impacting the civilian population. Carrying out strikes of such magnitude while humanitarian aid is being distributed deepens the region's humanitarian crisis. The progress of search operations in the coming days will clarify the final death toll.
