Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has declared that her country is prepared to defend every inch of its territory, including Greenland. Her statement came in response to US President Donald Trump's aspirations regarding Greenland, expressed during the NATO summit, CNBC reports.

"Our position is clear, as it has been all along. Greenland is naturally not for sale. We hope that everyone, including our allies, will respect the right to self-determination of the people of Greenland. We are a sovereign state, everyone should respect our territorial integrity and sovereignty," the Danish Prime Minister stated.

Mette Frederiksen underscored Denmark's readiness to defend Greenland's territory militarily. She noted, "One of the reasons we created NATO years ago is that if something happens to one of us, everyone will defend each other."

Earlier, during a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan within the framework of the NATO summit, Donald Trump reiterated his stance on Greenland. "The U.S. should have control over Greenland, not Denmark," he declared.

Trump added that if Denmark did not agree to the deal, "especially with the amount of money we spend helping them with Russia, then we won't spend any money." He also stated that "Greenland doesn't help Denmark, Denmark doesn't spend money to truly help Greenland, but for the United States, it is an important area. It is surrounded by Chinese and Russian ships, and that won't continue."
