Chinese scientists have been awarded the Fields Medal for solving unresolved problems that have challenged mathematicians for over a century. Notably, 35-year-old Hong Wan, who teaches in the United States and France, is only the third woman to receive this highest honor.
The awards ceremony took place on Thursday in the United States, at a time when artificial intelligence is increasingly challenging human capabilities. The Fields Medal is awarded every four years to mathematicians under 40 who have achieved exceptional accomplishments.
