Medical sources in the Gaza Strip reported that local hospitals registered seven deaths and 10 injuries over the past 24 hours as a result of Israeli strikes.
According to data from the Gaza Ministry of Health, the total death toll from Israeli strikes since October 7, 2023, has reached 73,438, with the number of injured rising to 174,447.
Physicians note that several victims' bodies still remain under the rubble, as ambulance and rescue teams struggle to reach and extract them.
Israel initiated military operations in the Gaza Strip in response to an incursion by Palestinian Hamas movement militants, which resulted in nearly 1,200 deaths and around 250 individuals taken hostage.
Subsequent negotiations brokered by US President Donald Trump led to a ceasefire agreement, under which Hamas returned the Israeli hostages and bodies of the deceased held in its custody.
Despite the reached ceasefire agreement and the return of hostages, casualties in the Gaza Strip continue to mount. This indicates that the situation on the ground remains far from fully stabilized, and the ceasefire regime is regularly put to the test.
The bodies remaining under the debris and the impediments to rescue efforts also attest to the severe ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region. Moving forward, the extent to which the parties succeed in maintaining the mediated agreements and preventing a new large-scale escalation of hostilities will be decisive.
