Putin on the Irreplaceable Value of a Teacher’s Live Voice

2 Min Read

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that no modern means can ever replace the live voice of a teacher, lecturer, or mentor. He made the remarks during a visit to Moscow State Pedagogical University, where he met with teachers to mark Knowledge Day.

Putin emphasized that attention to the teaching profession in Russia is currently growing and its prestige is rising, as evidenced by an increase in the number of applicants for vacancies and higher Unified State Exam scores for admission to teacher training programs.

"You know that in July of this year I signed a decree on the status of the teacher," the president reminded during his conversation with the educators.

Notably, Putin's statement comes just a few months after the decree on teacher status. Apparently, Russia is trying to address the acute shortage of school staff by boosting the profession's appeal.

However, the specific content of the document remains unknown, and that is the most crucial question. What concrete steps will follow the decree and how it will affect teachers' salaries and working conditions remain open. This lack of data will prompt many to follow developments closely, especially given that it concerns a document pivotal to the entire education system.
