Following the successful completion of planned preventive maintenance, Unit 2 of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant was restarted and reconnected to the unified power grid of the Republic of Armenia on September 1.
David Khudatyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, stated that around 20 key measures aimed at enhancing the reliability, safety, and operational efficiency of the power unit were carried out during the maintenance period. Overall, the repair work lasted 153 days, fully aligning with the predetermined schedule.
Currently, the power unit is operating under normal mode, with its power capacity being gradually increased in accordance with all technological requirements.
The successful restart and grid reconnection of Unit 2 at the nuclear power plant is a crucial milestone for Armenia's energy security. The completion of the 153-day planned maintenance demonstrates that the system maintains its stability and operational rhythm.
The approximately 20 measures implemented were primarily focused on elevating safety standards, which is vital for the long-term operation of such infrastructure. The gradual increase in power capacity over the coming days will allow for the full restoration of previous electricity production volumes.
