Those participating in the persecution of the canonical church will be cursed. Maria Zakharova, Official Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, stated this during a weekly briefing, commenting on a question regarding the evaluation of the authorities' persecution of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

She emphasized that while there are terrible crimes, fight against God and a true campaign of persecution carried out by all means carry an eternal curse, as history proves. Speaking about the significance of the church, the Russian Foreign Ministry representative urged turning to sacred texts and the Bible.

Zakharova noted that the campaign against the church is undoubtedly bordering on and reaching the level of a fight against God, leaving all participants under a curse for centuries.

At the same time, she clarified that a "curse" does not necessarily mean a mystical event. According to her, the persecutors will be cursed by their very own citizens and people.

Amid tensions between the church and the state, this statement coming from Moscow demonstrates how sensitive the religious topic has become in regional politics. When assessments of a spiritual and historical nature are voiced from a diplomatic platform, it usually indicates a deepening of political disagreements between the parties.

Such rhetoric directly affects public sentiment, further escalating internal discussions. Moving forward, it will be important to monitor official Yerevan's response to these expressed assessments.
