Two 15-year-old girls were killed and 25 people, including children, were injured in a Russian airstrike on the center of Chernihiv, Ukraine. According to Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the regional military administration, Russian forces used Banderol (S8000) cruise missiles and attack drones powered by jet engines.

Eight of the injured were taken to hospital, including two children, a brother and sister, who are in serious condition. The others received medical assistance at the scene or on an outpatient basis. Residential buildings, shops and cars were damaged in the strike. According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, there were no military facilities at the site of the attack. October 30 has been declared a day of mourning in Chernihiv.

Other Ukrainian cities have also been hit by Russian strikes. Three people were killed and another 25 injured in Kremenchuk. In Zaporizhzhia, two men were injured, four cars and an open area caught fire, and a warehouse building and four buses were damaged.

On the evening of October 29, a Russian missile struck Kharkiv’s Slobidskyi district. A fire broke out in an industrial building and the surrounding area, spreading across 400 square meters. At another location, debris from various materials burned across an area of 80 square meters, and two trucks were also damaged.

Kyiv was also targeted by Russian ballistic missiles. According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, warehouse buildings were hit in the Darnytskyi district, while missile debris caught fire in the courtyard of a residential complex in the Dniprovskyi district. The blast wave shattered windows in residential buildings and damaged cars parked in the courtyard. A shop building near the site where missile debris fell was partially destroyed. According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, one person was killed in the attack.

The incident in Chernihiv is not just a case of an attack on a single city. Strikes were also reported in several other Ukrainian cities during the same period, with consequences ranging from loss of life to damage to residential and industrial buildings. This pattern shows how widely the latest strikes have affected the country.

Damage to civilian areas deserves particular attention. In Chernihiv, according to Ukraine’s emergency services, there were no military facilities at the site of the strike, while homes, shops and cars were damaged. This is an important factor in assessing the impact of the attack on the civilian population. At the same time, reports from different cities should be considered separately, without conflating casualty figures or the circumstances of individual incidents.
