The Paris Court of Appeal has delivered a verdict against Marine Le Pen, leader of the National Rally party, in the case concerning parliamentary assistants. BFMTV reported this on July 7.

Le Pen has been sentenced to three years in prison. One year of this sentence is to be served under electronic monitoring.

Last November, Le Pen stated that she would not participate in the 2027 presidential elections if the Court of Appeal upheld the ban on her participation in elections.

A trial was underway in Paris against Marine Le Pen and 26 representatives of her party on charges of money laundering. They are accused of illegally using European Parliament funds to pay the salaries of assistants.
