Iran has announced large-scale retaliatory operations against American military facilities in the Middle East. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reports that missile and drone strikes were launched against US bases in Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Qatar. Iran explains this move as a response to American attacks on its southern regions.
According to the IRGC, the US attempted to pressure Oman and deployed ships to the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian side claims it thwarted these actions. Subsequently, American forces struck coastal bases and communication facilities in southern Iran.
Tehran claims that the first phase of the retaliatory strikes hit the Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan. In the second phase, ballistic missiles targeted the Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar. Iran asserts that it destroyed a maintenance center and a command post.
Furthermore, in Kuwait, strikes targeted a Patriot air defense system, an ammunition depot, and radars. In Bahrain, military communication systems and radar facilities were damaged. Iran also reported the interception of a second "hostile ship" in the Strait of Hormuz, though this remains unconfirmed.
Tehran has warned that any further American strikes will be met with a harsher response. Earlier, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that, on the orders of Donald Trump, it had struck Iranian facilities. The goal is to limit Tehran's ability to control the Strait of Hormuz.
IRGC naval forces have announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. They noted that shipping will resume only after American military intervention ceases.
