Konstantin Sokolov, who donated $11 million to the MAGA committee supporting U.S. President Donald Trump, has been appointed head of the TRIPP+ fund, Hetq reports. The fund plans to invest $201 million in the South Caucasus and Central Asia.

The British newspaper The Guardian reports that the TRIPP+ fund is authorized to make investments in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and other countries in the region. The investments will be in the form of loans, equity participation, and grants. The goal is to foster private sector development.

Sokolov is a businessman from St. Petersburg. In 2025, he donated $11 million to a pro-Trump committee, and in 2026, he contributed $443,000 to the Republican Party. According to data from the U.S. Federal Election Commission, he is also one of 36 donors who funded the construction of the White House ballroom.

Konstantin Sokolov became known in Armenia as one of the beneficiaries of the company Viva Armenia. In 2024, he became the owner of 20% of the company. According to Hetq, Sokolov and his partner Zhe Zhang specialize in organizing complex transactions. They often act as consultants or intermediaries rather than as independent investors.

These U.S. funds have been established since 1989. They operate as independent organizations. According to the U.S. Department of State, this model allows for rapid investment and flexibility in responding to the specific challenges of each country.
