News.am — In its July 23 ruling, the Anti-Corruption Court fully granted a claim submitted by the Prosecutor's Office, ordering V. A., the director of two limited liability companies, to pay 1 billion 150 million 584 thousand drams to the state as compensation for damages caused.
The basis for the seizure of this sum lies in the fact that on March 17 of this year, the Yerevan Criminal Court found V. A. guilty of tax evasion. The judicial investigation revealed that while acting as the head of the two companies, he reached a prior agreement with the companies' de facto manager to evade paying state duties on an especially large scale.
The defendant intentionally included false information in tax reports, which allowed for the concealment of significant funds. Specifically, he evaded paying over 584 million drams in income tax, approximately 554 million drams in value-added tax, as well as over 11 million drams in profit tax. As a result, the total damage caused to the state budget exceeded 1.1 billion drams. With this court ruling, the state is recovering its financial losses.
