Alternative for Germany calls for snap elections

News.am — Alice Weidel, co-chair of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, asserts that recent personnel changes within the German government have only deepened the country's chaos, creating a necessity for immediate snap elections. According to Weidel, Chancellor Friedrich Merz, instead of taking decisive action and addressing the serious problems facing the country, has focused entirely on internal appointments that offer no real benefit to the state.

Within the framework of the government reshuffle, following the resignation of Jens Spahn as leader of the CDU/CSU faction in the Bundestag, the position will be assumed by Thorsten Frei, head of the Federal Chancellery. As a result of this chain of appointments, Nina Warken will take over the health portfolio, while CDU Secretary General Carsten Linnemann will head the Ministry of Health. At the same time, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Ministry of Digital Affairs Philipp Amthor will replace Michael Meister as Minister of State for Relations between the Federal Center and the States. Alice Weidel is convinced that these reshuffles do not match the scale of the challenges facing Germany.
