A high risk of wildfires will be recorded on August 9 in the Ararat Plain, Yerevan, Shirak, the foothills of Aragatsotn, Kotayk, Vayots Dzor, and the valleys of Syunik.
On the evening of August 9 and 13, as well as during the night and afternoon hours of August 10-12 and 14, short-term rain and thunderstorms are expected across most regions. On August 9-11, precipitation will be heavy in localized areas, with hail also possible. In contrast, clear weather without precipitation is expected during the night of August 13.
The wind will blow from the northeast and east at a speed of 4-7 m/s, with gusts reaching up to 20-25 m/s during thunderstorms.
Daytime temperatures will drop by 3-5 degrees Celsius on August 10-11, bringing a long-awaited break from temperatures above +35°C for a considerable time ahead.
In the capital, Yerevan, short-term rain and thunderstorms are expected in the evening of August 9 and 14, as well as during the night and evening hours of August 10-12, during which winds may strengthen to 18-23 m/s. No precipitation is expected on August 13. On August 9-14, wind speeds are expected to intensify to 15-18 m/s during the evening hours.
The drop in temperature and the retreat of heat exceeding +35°C will undoubtedly offer some relief from the summer heat. However, the anticipated heavy rains and hail could pose serious challenges, particularly for agriculture.
Additionally, the high-level wildfire warning serves as a reminder that, despite the rainfall, vigilance must still be maintained in open spaces.
