Trump Intends to Declare the Strait of Hormuz U.S. Territory

1 Min Read

United States President Donald Trump has stated that he will soon declare the Strait of Hormuz U.S. territory and has urged citizens to accept slightly higher gasoline prices as the price of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

It is worth recalling that before the war launched against Iran, about twenty percent of the oil consumed worldwide passed through this strait, but Iran later announced that it was closed. Since that time, only a limited number of ships have been able to pass through Hormuz, thereby creating additional tension in the region, as Tehran demands special permission.

This statement directly impacts global energy markets and international security. Such steps could deepen the existing crisis, given the strategic importance of the strait in oil supply.
