US Secret Service Responds to Video About Plot to Assassinate Barron Trump

The US Secret Service is aware of a video broadcast on Iranian state television discussing a plan to carry out an assassination attempt against Barron Trump, the youngest son of US President Donald Trump. This was reported by Secret Service spokesperson Nate Herring.

“The US Secret Service is aware of the video and is examining anything that could pose a threat to our protectees,” Herring said, adding that, for operational security reasons, the agency does not discuss matters related to protective intelligence.

The three-minute video aired on Iranian state television says that 20-year-old Barron Trump is being monitored and that a $10 million bounty has been placed on him.

This month, Donald Trump confirmed that during a visit to Turkey in July, he changed planes at the direction of the Secret Service because of an alleged threat of an assassination attempt against him by Iran. At the time, he stressed: “It’s up to the Secret Service to decide.”

According to Trump, he is “number one on Iran’s list of people to be killed.”

In this case, the focus is not only on the content of the video but also on how the US Secret Service is responding to it. The agency confirms that it is aware of the material and is examining anything that could pose a threat to its protectees, while at the same time withholding details of its protective intelligence. This means that the public statement alone does not make it possible to determine the level of real threat posed by the information presented in the video.

The material also refers to Trump’s earlier statement about an alleged threat of an assassination attempt against him by Iran, which led to his plane being changed in July. This puts the video against the backdrop of existing security concerns, but does not provide additional confirmation of a separate threat posed by the material.
