The death toll from the catastrophic flooding in Nepal has reached 469. According to local police, rescuers are continuing intensive operations in the border region between Nepal and China, where hundreds of people remain missing.

Earlier, authorities reported 390 fatalities in Nepal and 3 in Tibet. Following Wednesday's tragedy, the combined number of missing persons across both areas exceeded 1,400. Official U.S. sources confirmed that around 90 United States citizens are also among those missing in the disaster zone.

Most of the missing individuals had gone on a pilgrimage. They were traveling to Mount Kailash in Tibet, which holds sacred significance for Hindus, Buddhists, and followers of other religions.

Meanwhile, following a massive landslide on the China-Nepal border, rescuers managed to safely evacuate 555 stranded tourists from the disaster area. Additionally, 499 local residents were brought to safety. The nationalities of the evacuated foreign tourists have not yet been specified.

The difficult mountainous terrain along the border and unfavorable weather conditions are significantly complicating search and rescue operations. Unfortunately, this means the number of confirmed fatalities may increase further in the coming days.

Natural disasters of this scale in the region often create serious humanitarian challenges for local authorities. The immediate priority remains evacuating people from affected areas and compiling accurate lists of the missing.
