US President Donald Trump has stated that the United States needs an ocean named "America." According to him, since the country already has the Gulf of America and Lake America, they may need to change the name of either the Atlantic or the Pacific Ocean.
Earlier, the US President signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario to Lake America.
Announcements regarding the renaming of geographical landmarks—especially those involving international waters—invariably spark severe legal and political debates. While the decision regarding Lake Ontario was enacted through a domestic executive order, renaming global oceans would require international agreements and widespread recognition.
