UAE receives over 6,000 BYD vehicles from China, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz

The Port of Khorfakkan in the United Arab Emirates has received its first major shipment of over 6,000 BYD electric vehicles from China.

The vessel named Changsha transported exactly 6,068 new vehicles to the UAE. It set sail from Shenzhen International Logistics Port, launching a new direct sea route connecting China to Khorfakkan that significantly simplifies the shipping process.

The Port of Khorfakkan is located on the coast of the Arabian Sea, enabling cargo to reach the Emirates while completely bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. The new route cuts sea transit time from China to the UAE by 3 to 5 days and substantially reduces the risk of potential supply disruptions, which is particularly crucial amid regional tensions.

The launch of this new maritime route directly highlights the severity of supply chain security risks in the Middle East. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most sensitive maritime corridors, where any geopolitical tension can instantly disrupt global trade.

The choice of a bypass route is no coincidence. Beyond saving 3 to 5 days of transit time, China and the UAE are establishing a secure logistical alternative that guarantees the uninterrupted supply of electric vehicles and other cargo, even in times of crisis.
