Pashinyan and Aliyev Meet in Bishkek

1 Min Read

A meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is currently underway in Bishkek, taking place on the margins of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit's SCO+ format events.

The prime minister's press secretary has confirmed the meeting, but no details have been released so far regarding either the agenda or the course of the talks.

The Armenian leader arrived in Bishkek to participate in the SCO summit and a number of other official events scheduled within its framework.

This meeting is significant primarily because it occurs on a high-level multilateral platform, where Armenian and Azerbaijani sides rarely hold separate bilateral discussions. Although no specifics have been disclosed, the very fact of the meeting indicates that the two countries' leaders continue to maintain direct channels of communication despite a complex agenda.

It remains unclear whether this conversation is related to technical details of a possible agreement or is merely a working contact to coordinate next steps. It is evident that additional information may emerge in the coming days or hours, and that will ultimately determine whether this is part of a larger process or an isolated episode.
