A tragic incident occurred on September 4 at one of the medical centers in Masis. 69-year-old Ira Z. passed away on the operating table while under general anesthesia. At approximately 12:10 p.m., the Masis police department received an alert, which served as the basis for subsequent actions.

In connection with the incident, police have arrested five individuals from the staff of the "Edem" hospital and the invited medical personnel. Among those detained are the facility's director Mher E., anesthesiologist Karen B., emergency doctor David G., as well as nurses Yeranuhi Kh. and Shoghik A. They have all been transported to the Masis police station.

Relevant documentation prepared by the police has been transferred to the Masis investigative division of the RA Investigative Committee. Law enforcement officials are currently determining the circumstances surrounding the woman's death by investigating potential negligence during the medical procedure.

Deaths occurring during medical interventions always raise serious public concern, as they call into question the level of accountability within the healthcare system. In this case, the number of detainees—five individuals—indicates that the investigation is examining both the pre-operative preparation phase and the actions taken during the administration of anesthesia.

It is crucial to determine whether the incident was a result of professional error or a preventable systemic failure. The Investigative Committee's work will now focus on adherence to medical procedural standards, which will determine who is ultimately responsible for this tragedy.
