As a result of an overnight attack by Ukrainian forces, two people were killed in the Voronezh region, and seventeen others, including one child, sustained injuries of varying severity. According to the regional head, air defense forces shot down 113 unmanned aerial vehicles in the sky, seventy of which were destroyed directly over the city of Voronezh.
A significant number of the injured were hurt aboard a train traveling through the city's left-bank suburbs when debris from a downed drone fell on a carriage. "Russian Railways" clarified that the incident occurred at Somovo station, damaging a train en route from Anapa to Moscow, which led to a temporary suspension of rail traffic in that section.
Fires that broke out on site damaged several industrial facilities, residential buildings, business centers, vehicles, and other infrastructure objects, while shattered glass and damaged facades were reported across almost all parts of the city.
Concurrently, the neighboring Belgorod region was also attacked, where explosions resulted in two more deaths and eighteen additional injuries of varying severity, according to regional authorities.
These overnight strikes demonstrate the continuous expansion of the conflict's geography, with targets extending beyond border areas to densely populated hubs deep in the rear. Damage to rail transport and urban infrastructure once again underscores the direct impact of such incidents on civilian safety.
In the coming days, both sides are likely to present more detailed damage assessments, while local residents continue to clear the aftermath of the night's destruction.
