Turkey’s Standing in the Global Population Rankings

The Turkish Statistical Institute has released new data regarding the country's population, according to ermenihaber.am.

According to UN projections, the global population is expected to reach 8.231 billion by mid-2026. India remains the most populous country in the world. The top three spots on the list are occupied by India (1.463 billion), China (1.416 billion), and the United States (347.275 million).

Turkey is included in a list of 194 countries. With a population of over 86 million, the country ranks 18th. Turkey's population accounts for approximately 1 percent of the total world population.

The share of the child population in the country is 24.8 percent. This figure is lower than the global average. However, it exceeds the corresponding rates of the 27 European Union member states. The proportion of young people in Turkey stands at 14.8 percent, which is also lower than the global average.
