Famous singer Grigory Leps has been one of the highest-paid artists for many years. However, he admits that his financial situation is complicated. In an interview with Emin Agalarov, Leps mentioned that he currently has debts amounting to approximately $18 million.
The singer did not disclose the exact reasons for his debts. It is known that he founded a large production center ten years ago, spending about $20 million on its construction.
This center is operational, but it does not generate significant revenue. Leps provides many services to his colleagues for free. For example, Leonid Agutin and Vladimir Presnyakov rehearse there at no cost. The singer calls the studio a "monument to money" rather than a business.
Leps has also amassed a collection of icons, paying millions at auctions. In recent years, some of his other businesses, including optical salons and one of his restaurants, have also been operating at a loss.
The artist's primary source of income is his concerts. He performs 110-120 shows per year. Leps says that if it weren't for his financial obligations, he would likely have left the stage. He wants to ensure the education of his children, which will take several more years.
Late last year, it became known that Leps had put two mansions up for sale. Their total value is 1.5 billion rubles.
The singer notes that he does not need much money for his old age. A small house and food are enough for him. In his own words, a person does not need great wealth.
