1in.am — In hot weather, the skin undergoes serious challenges: sweating increases, the skin easily dehydrates and becomes irritated, and ultraviolet rays can lead to sunburn, pigmentation spots, exacerbation of skin diseases, and premature aging.
The Ministry of Health offers several important tips for skin care during this period. First and foremost, it is necessary to apply sunscreen every day, not just at the beach, but also in the city while walking, working, or even sitting in a car. It is advisable to avoid direct sunlight between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM, when rays are most dangerous, and to stay in the shade during those hours, wearing a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and light-colored, loose clothing.
Special caution should be exercised by children, people with fair skin, and those suffering from chronic skin conditions (vitiligo, rosacea, acne, atopic dermatitis). Many people start washing more frequently with strong products during hot weather, thinking it is better, but aggressive cleansers, alcohol-based lotions, and scrubs damage the skin's protective layer, causing dryness, redness, and itching. It is enough to wash the face 1-2 times a day with a gentle cleanser, and over-drying oily skin usually produces the opposite effect.
Moisturizer is also necessary in summer, as the sun, sweat, air conditioning, and chlorine in pools dehydrate the skin. It is important not to leave the skin damp for long periods to prevent heat rash and fungal infections. In summer, the skin needs three main things: gentle cleansing, light hydration, and effective sun protection.
