Factor — Ten citizens were hospitalized with a diagnosis of “acute intestinal infection” following a reception organized at the French Embassy on July 14 to mark Bastille Day. The Food Safety Inspectorate (SATM) has determined that the catering was provided by Yerevan’s Armenia Marriott hotel, and inspections are now underway there.
According to an epidemiological investigation, all affected individuals had eaten from the buffet, which featured shawarma, pepperoni pizza, grilled pork and chicken, strawberries, and seafood bruschetta. SATM immediately began tracing the origin of the food. A letter from the embassy was received on July 23, confirming that the catering was arranged by the aforementioned hotel.
The inspectorate received the information nearly 10 days later, meaning the specific batches of food had already been consumed. However, to protect public health, inspections will be carried out at Armenia Marriott, and the results will be published. The French Embassy, for its part, has confirmed the cases of food poisoning.
