Radar.am — Sergey Karmryan has won a silver medal at the U17 World Freestyle Wrestling Championship held in Baku. In the decisive bout of the 60kg weight category, the Russian-Armenian wrestler lost to India's Sitender with a score of 1:3 after a hard-fought match.
The path to the final was quite intense. In the semi-finals, Karmryan faced Ukraine's Nikita Kuzmenko; with the score tied at 2:2, the criteria and tie-breaker rules favored Sergey. Prior to that, the wrestler had secured confident victories against Poland's Witold Pawlik (4:0) and Uzbekistan's Bekzodbek Ibrokhimov (5:0).
It should be noted that the Armenian national freestyle wrestling team also participated in this tournament, but the Armenian athletes failed to secure any medals. Earlier in the tournament, Armenian Greco-Roman wrestlers had performed well, returning home with a total of one gold and two bronze medals.
