Psychiatrist and addiction specialist Anton Rudkovsky has explained which types of alcohol are most dangerous to one's health. He shared his observations in an interview with Gazeta.Ru.
According to the doctor, the problem lies not in the type of drink, but in ethyl alcohol itself. From a medical perspective, there is no such thing as a "beneficial" or "harmful" drink. In all cases, the same substance—ethanol—affects the body.
The specialist warns specifically against sweet, low-alcohol beverages and pre-mixed cocktails. People tend to consume them more quickly and in larger quantities than stronger spirits.
Combining alcohol with energy drinks is also dangerous. Caffeine provides a false sense of alertness, which prevents individuals from accurately assessing their level of intoxication.
Rudkovsky also urges against viewing wine as harmless. The illusion regarding the "benefits" of wine can lead to regular consumption. Over time, this increases the risk of developing an addiction.
Addiction specialist Andrey Tyurin previously noted that alcohol is particularly dangerous during hot weather. According to him, drinking cold beer in the heat can land a person in the intensive care unit.
