Trump says he is now demanding compensation from Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he is demanding compensation from Iran. He noted that Tehran's representatives want compensation for damages suffered during the five-month military conflict. According to him, that conflict began because Iran must not possess nuclear weapons. Trump emphasized that such an issue had never been discussed in their negotiations before.

According to the U.S. President, this is an interesting idea, and now he is the one demanding compensation from Iran. He is referring to all the people whom the Iranian side killed or severely injured with explosive devices and in numerous conflicts. He specifically mentioned General Soleimani, the families of those killed aboard the USS Cole, and thousands of others who died in battle.

In addition, Trump demands compensation for the families of hundreds of thousands of innocent protesters killed by Iran over the past 50 years, as well as for the 52,000 people killed in the last five months. He has already instructed his representatives to decisively include this demand in all future negotiations.

This statement by Trump significantly complicates future U.S.-Iran negotiations. Putting forward mutual claims for compensation demonstrates that the parties are far from reaching an agreement on the conflict.

Notably, Washington is raising the issue at the very moment Tehran itself is attempting to obtain compensation for military damages. Upcoming meetings will clarify to what extent the parties will be prepared to make concessions against the backdrop of these new demands.
