As of September 1, 2026, the level of Lake Sevan reached 1,900.70 meters, marking the highest September figure recorded in the last 64 years.

This record-breaking indicator highlights that the current year holds a special place in the multi-year observation history of the lake's hydrological regime.

Specialists from the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center continue to track water inflows into the lake basin, which have significantly contributed to such a substantial rise in the water level.

The rise of Lake Sevan to its highest level in 64 years holds significant importance for Armenia's water resource management and ecosystem restoration. This demonstrates that precipitation levels and water flow management have had a positive impact on the overall water balance.

However, the rising water level also brings additional challenges, particularly concerning coastal areas, infrastructure, and the clearing of submerged forested lands. In the upcoming phase, monitoring how effectively these changes are managed from both economic and environmental perspectives will be crucial.
