An aircraft is arriving in Yerevan from Baku this evening. This is evidenced by data from the flightradar24 website, according to which a Boeing 737-8GJ of Tajikistan's Somon Air company departed from Dushanbe for Baku yesterday.
It should be noted that the President of Tajikistan, as well as leaders of several other countries, have been in Baku since yesterday to participate in the Summit on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia. However, the Boeing 737-8GJ aircraft apparently is not serving the President of Tajikistan, and its further route is not yet clear.
Armenia is also preparing to host official delegations: a Leaders' Summit will be held in Yerevan within the framework of COP17.
This flight becomes particularly noteworthy in the context that Baku is hosting high-level guests these days, while Yerevan is preparing for the Leaders' Summit within the framework of COP17. Information about the Tajik airline's aircraft flying from Baku to Yerevan is spreading at a time when active diplomatic movement is being observed in the region. This could be an ordinary technical flight, but under such circumstances even small details can attract additional attention.
The aircraft's route and purpose have not yet been officially commented on, which leaves room for various interpretations. It is important that the public information is based exclusively on flightradar24 data, and before drawing any conclusions it is worth waiting for official confirmation. Against the backdrop of the upcoming summit in Armenia, this flight could also be related to preparatory work or the movement of delegations, but for now that is merely speculation.
