A resident of Sisian is suspected of committing a grave crime against his minor child, according to law enforcement authorities.
The 44-year-old man exploited his trust over a prolonged period and repeatedly abused his 13-year-old daughter, also committing sexual advances.
Police officers responded promptly to the alert received and, based on immediate suspicion, arrested the suspect, transferring him to the community division, from where he was sent to a detention facility.
A criminal proceeding has been initiated by the competent authorities into the incident, and the necessary investigative actions are currently being carried out to establish all circumstances.
This case once again highlights the urgent need for the prevention of domestic violence and the protection of minors. A particular feature of such situations is that the crime was committed by a direct guardian, which complicates the process of early detection.
